Perihel / Aphel; a minimalistic thriller

‘Perihel’ is the point of closest distance of a body or an object to the sun on its elliptical orbit, ‘Aphel’ means the point of its greatest distance.

“Perihel / Aphel” is a minimalistic thriller in both sound and sight. A sprawling
composition by Centraal – Thorsten Niestrath and Bernhard Wöstheinrich’s band name before they converted to centrozoon - weaves around the story of one man picking up a close friend from the train station.

Plotted and staged in deliberately simple ways by Bernd Thiele and Bernhard Wöstheinrich, the film tells its story through images and music alone.

Guitarist Tim Motzer and me in our world premiere duo performance soundscaping & improvising in a 3 projector video installation set in a walled in corridor not unlike an early beat club broadcast at the 1k Sessions webcast from Philadelphia, NJ, October 2011.

Clouds of sounds cutting new terrain, as well as synth homages to Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, and other German pioneers of electronic music are in full effect.

Bernhard - Live in New Jersey

Two of the 2011 US-North-East tour concerts are now available as “Live in New Jersey 2011″.
The release documents the concerts at the Equinoxygene Festival in Hackensack, NJ and the Live-on-Air performance at
Mike Hunter’s “Music with Space” at WPRB in Princeton.

The two music-episodes of 50 and 15 minutes in length span the range from floating ambient sections, classically
inspired synthesizer music to sequencer work-outs and innovative electronica.
